About Our Founder
Porchlight’s founder, Claudia Montenegro, passionately advocates for food justice and sustainability. As a single parent, she launched Porchlight to bridge gaps in access to nutritious food while reducing food waste. Her journey inspired the creation of a dignified, client-choice model that empowers families to choose foods that meet their dietary needs.
Under her leadership, Porchlight has grown into one of the few programs in California focused on providing equitable, allergy-friendly food access. Claudia's commitment to sustainability and community empowerment drives the mission to ensure everyone has the agency to improve their circumstances while embracing environmentally friendly practices. Blessed to be in San Diego, Porchlight’s impact resonates locally and nationally as a model for food justice.
